At Green Batti, we are more than just coconut oil producers—we are a social enterprise dedicated to empowering the youth and transforming the Batticaloa community. Born out of a collective vision to address the growing challenge of youth unemployment, our enterprise utilizes the rich coconut resources of Batticaloa to create sustainable economic opportunities for young people.

We specialize in producing 100% pure, unadulterated coconut oil, ensuring a high-quality product that promotes health and wellness for our customers. Unlike mass-market oils, Green Batti stands for authenticity, purity, and community-driven values. Every bottle of oil reflects the hard work of local youth, the richness of Batticaloa’s natural resources, and our commitment to ethical and transparent production practices.

Our journey began with a simple idea—to turn local resources into local opportunities. By engaging youth in the coconut collection and production process, we not only create jobs but also nurture a sense of pride and identity within the community. Additionally, we are innovating ways to utilize coconut shells in our production cycle to generate additional income streams, promoting a circular economy.

With a clear vision to become Batticaloa’s leading coconut oil producer by 2025, Green Batti is not just a business; it’s a movement towards a self-sustaining and empowered society.

Goal

The primary goals of the Social Enterprise revolve around enhancing production capacity, expanding market reach, and strengthening human resource development. In terms of production and collection, the enterprise aims to establish a coconut oil production unit equipped with adequate space, machinery, and equipment at a suitable location in Batticaloa, in collaboration with the Kaviya organization. Efforts will be made to expand coconut collection through Youth Cooperative members and other youth clubs in Batticaloa, while raising community awareness on the importance of supplying coconuts to the enterprise. Additionally, obtaining GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification for the production unit is a key objective to ensure quality standards. On the marketing front, the enterprise targets daily sales of at least 30 liters of coconut oil in its first year. It seeks to build market connections with other Cooperative branches in Batticaloa and develop a strong brand identity, including a professional logo and product labels. Establishing market links with Kaviya-supported food outlets, as well as building relationships with private traders and hotels in the region, will further strengthen market presence. For human resource development, the enterprise plans to recruit personnel for newly created positions as per an updated organizational structure. Comprehensive management training for all staff and specialized technical training tailored to individual roles will be provided. In the long term, the enterprise envisions creating more employment opportunities, contributing to sustainable community development.
